Kid Confusions

When I was small (I'm guessing 5ish) I learned a new song at church. The lyrics go like this: "I can do and say happy things each day" but what I heard and sang was this: "I can do insane happy things each day".

Did you ever do anything like that?

Are you on your best behavoir in public?

When in public, it might do you some good to remember:

~If your companies name and phone number are printed on the side of your truck it might not be a good idea to be littering out the window.

~When going fishing (in this case sitting on a log) just be aware that those of us walking past you on the boardwalk are gonna be looking at your tooshy because your pants are a few inches to short to cover that thong you're wearing.

Have you noticed anything like this? What have you seen in public?

Flashback Friday (Forks Fun)

One year ago I was in a plane looking at these beautiful bridges.
Along with 25 of my dear friends, I took a little trip up to Seattle.

Stopped off here for some lunch after we saw the Space Needle.

Went shopping at the pier and got a kick out of all the pirate stuff.

Then saw some real pirates. One of them licked my ear. Luckiliy I had some hand sanitizer--turns out a few dabs of that is good for your ear too (ok I'm not really sure about that but I did it anyway).

Ran into a huge sand sculpture contest in Port Angeles. There was some great talent there!

Met up with more friends to party and play in Forks, Washington. This was our online book clubs official photo (sadly a handful couldn't make the trip). Amazing ladies. Amazing memories.

The local book club gals. My dear friends.

Honest Schmonest

Amber over at Seriously Amber Lynae (who just got an adorably cute new bloggy makeover) gave me this fun award.

This award has 4 requirements:
1. Thank the person who gave you the award, list her blog (or his) and link.
2. List 10 honest things about yourself and post a copy of the Honest Scrap Logo on your blog.
3. Pass the award on to seven (7) other people whose blogs you find brilliant in content or design.
4. Notify the bloggers you choose for the award and hopefully they will join in.

So I'm awarding it on to these lovely ladies:
~HK has two blogs I enjoy reading. It's fun getting inspired by her stories.
~Erin always has such great topics on her blog that really spark the talking. Go check it out!
~Melanie is my bestest friend from school and she's expecting her first baby any day now. I'm so super excited for her.
~Von and I hung out at the Moms Who Make It Conference. It was so fun getting to know her IRL. She's one awesome (and funny!) chica.
~Val of the South and I met at Crash's blog lunch but we were at opposite ends of the table. Not cool. So it's been fun getting to know her now through her blog. Plus she's got the human calendar thingy.
~Victoria is amazing! She writes incredibly beautiful music, makes/caters deliciously looking food, and is really involved in life. I love her blog so much I often go back to read past posts that happened before I was a follower.
~Jenni is my dear friend whom I've had many a great adventures with these last few years. Guess what I'm gonna see on Sat? Thats right Harry Potter baby (she'd be so proud of me).

And on with the show (if you're still interested), seven truths about me.
------

1. I sometimes like to eat my plain potato chips with ketchup. Yeah, I know, but it's not like I woke up one morning and thought 'I bet that's delicious'. I was a kid, and I thought it was like french fries. And it is. Kinda.

2. I hate lettuce in my food. I eat salad, but I can't stand lettuce mixed in. I ask for it to be removed usually because besides that I hate it, it drives me crazy when they shred it and I can't pick off those freakishly small pieces (mainly my sandwiches and hamburgers).

3. Last year I read 107 books in 52 weeks.

4. When I was 15 I used to work at Snowbird Ski Resort. Sometimes my friend and I would get off work late and we'd miss the last bus down the mountain. So, we hitch hiked. (Every single kind soul who picked us up told us it was a good thing it was them giving us a ride because there are a lot of Ted Bundy's out there.)

5. I am a movie junkie. We own well over 300 DVD's. Plus we canceled our television and subscribed to Netflix about a year ago and other than the occasional show (read So You Think You Can Dance) I'm really not missing it. Movies is where it's at. I usually watch a handful a week.

6. My emphasis in college was Marriage Enrichment. I have a few shelves of books dedicated to the subject.

7. My favorite flower is the Calla Lily.

8. In 5th grade I tried to learn to play the saxapone. I didn't. In 7th grade I tried to learn the piano. I didn't. In several grades I tried to learn to sing. I almost did. Turns out I can't read notes.

9. If I have to run errands I do it in the morning. By the afternoon my mind is mush, my body is slowing down and my kids are more susceptible to crankiness. Plus there are more people out by then.

10. I dont like sleeping with many blankets. Just one is enough for me. And usually two pillows.

IT Crowd

My brother-in-law introduced us to this show. Too darn funny. Hubby and I watched all the seasons. Hilarity I tell ya. Enjoy a bit yourself.
(There is much funnier stuff if you check it out on youtube, it just wouldn't let me embed it.)

Bittersweet to say goodbye to this week

I have had a SUPER busy week!
-------

Spent the first few days of the week up in Park City with these fantastic girls! A handful of my dearest friends. This overnighter was a blast. We stayed up until almost 3am chatting and went shopping at the outlets the next day. Didn't find great sales but enjoyed the fabulous company!
-----

Came home for 2 hours and was greeted by tired kids, burnt out hubby a messy house. (Don't get me wrong, I love that my hubby watched the kids for me, I'm just telling it like it is.) I repacked, and the kids and I headed to my parents house so I could have babysitters the next day for this:

That's right it's the Moms Who Make It Conference of '09!

I had a great time getting to hang out with Von and a few other friends whom I met there. Even Nicea DeGering (Good Things Utah) stopped by to talk a little.

The conference was filled with tons of great ideas for moms, creative gals, and entrepreneurs. It was packed full of good stuff. Plus it was held over at Noahs in South Jordan which, seriously, is completely posh! W.O.W.

Check out what we had for dinner. South of the border fajita bar. I love love the condiments and fruit tray. Could that get any cooler?

-----
Came back home and realized that putting off a needed car repair would wait no longer. (Notice I'm missing one of the studs?) With a now low tire it was just a risk I couldn't take so the kids and I ran (well actually drove really slowly) over to Big O Tires to get it fixed.

I had a wedding shower to make it to and I was convinced I was going to miss the party since it was Saturday and sure to be busy. I even came prepared for the kiddos with my laptop, Toy Story 2 and granola bars. Two new tires, 20 new studs and a dohinkee later I was wam-bam -thank-ya-ma'am out of there in 30 minutes. Go them.

-----
Amanda won the JumpStart 3D 3month subscription! Congratulations! Email me so we can get it all set up for ya!

Hodge Podge or Winner, 1st Lunch, 2nd Lunch, Author at my bookclub

Me from Eagles View wins her choice of a book thong. Congratulations!

I love love these fabulous things. I'd highly encourage you all to head on over and get yourself (and your friend!) one. There are even a few new designs since last week!
*****

Yesterday was completely awesome and totally busy. I started off my day hanging out with Crash who was in town and threw a fabulous bloggy lunch. She was totally adorable, sweet and just so....I dont know, squeezable! It was fun to have previously met Jillybean and Kristina so I knew a few familiar faces. I sat next to Barbaloot (who is a hoot), Shelle, Kristina and Nutty. I didnt get to visit very long with the ladies at the other side of the table but they were all so fun. We definitely got our fair share of stares.

Crash's family also dropped in to say hi so we got to meet her hubby, super model daughter, and her mother and father in law. Right as we were leaving Crash's rockstar brother stopped in to get autographs of everyone. Oh and how could I almost forget? Crash gave us all Hawaiin sandle keychains, fortune cookies and I even got to try a super yummy tim tam (although we didn't slim slam but I'm ok with that).
*****

Straight from leaving the Olive Garden I headed up to Mimi's Cafe at top speed to meet Erin from If you Give a Mom a Moment at her lunch where I had just had a delicious rasberry mouse dessert. Erin is awesome! Super friendly, sincere and sweet. I'm kinda sad I'm practically completely cut out from this picture but at least my eyes barely made it in there.

I knew everyone at my end of the table since I'd been following most of their blogs for a while. Sherri, Motherboard, Britney, Jillybean and Kristina (yes a few of us went to both lunches) were so fun to talk to. We had some good laughs, some interesting topics and some helpful hints. I really can't wait for the next one. I feel like I'm just starting to get to know these great ladies.

Luckily there was an empty seat at the other end of the table so I went out of my comfort zone a bit and went over and sat down to get to know the rest of the ladies. There was Boob Nazi (LOVE her name! If anyone of you know my Xbox name you'd understand a bit), Eagles View, Wonder woman, Erin of course~, Lyons Tale, Jillene, Mama Loves Shoes, Gardening With Miss Daisy. The visit with them was much to short but it was good to say hi and get to meet more fabulously sweet blogger friends!
*****

After lunch I headed to my moms house where I was hosting a book club. Sydney Salter who wrote My Big Nose and Other Natural Disasters was sweet enough to agree to come hang out with us. I met her at a library event and she was so kind I couldn't wait to introduce her to my friends. We played a fun game about highschool (her book is about high school, growing up, crushes) where I handed out fun prizes like a car for the craziest crash/ticket story or subway gift card for the craziest diet story or packs of gum for first kiss stories.

Then we all got to ask Sydney some questions about her book, her writing, the industry, her upcoming books (Jungle Crossing and Swoon at Your Own Risk). It was a great night. Proven by the fact that we all stuck around to laugh some more when it was done. My sister was kind enough to make this gorgeous wedding cake (the main character works at a Wedding Cake/Flower shop). I'm super sad I didn't get a big group picture so I had to borrow this one of Sydney from her website.

Random Ramblings

Do you ever plan lazy days? Days you're actually gonna stay in your jammies, go no where, have no contact with the outside world sorta days? Days you'd do whatever it is you want. All the movies, tv, books, sleeping and all that other good lazy stuff you can roll around in. I wish I could schedule one of these every other week. Talk about a sweet little rejuvenation.

One of my hubbys dream jobs was to join the Marines. (Without going into all our family talks about this, he's thinking National Gaurd now just to get involved somehow). He's gone through a few phases of getting really intense of looking into it, researching it, gather info to cpnvince me this is for our family. Then he starts watching some war movies. Like last nights movie: Black Hawk Down. I'm not so sure thats the best way to make me feel good about this.

Today's my hubby's birthday. He's the kinda person that likes no extra attention on this day. In fact he won't even answer the phone and our families know it, so they are good about leaving birthday messages a day later. What are you like? Me, I like all the attention I can get!

JumpStart 3D Review & Giveaway

For about a month now my two girls have been playing games at JumpStarts website. I love love games that keep them entertained and are educational too!

I set up a little interview with my 6 year old (she got a kick out of that) and here is what she said about it:

What do you think of JumpStart?
It's awesome fun.

What's your favorite part?
The yodel-ay-ee-oo thingy is my favorite. It's way funny.

What is your favorite game?
I like the taking pictures part. I really like all the parts.

One thing I love about it is that with one account, family members can have different characters. This is so helpful when my girls wanted to dress their characters differently and use their stars (points) on different things.

The kind folks at JumpStart have offered to give one of my readers a FREE 3-month membership. Thats lots of access people, to all these fun games for your kiddos.

To enter:
(Please leave a separate comment for each entry.)

~Tell me why you want to win this. (1 entry)
~Go to the Jump Start website and tell me one thing you like about it. (3 entries)
~Spread the word anywhere (facebook, twitter, blogs, word of mouth, emails), tell me what you did. (2 entries)

The contest will close in one week, on July 17th at midnight.

Sparklers are the new pencil

My hubby set our camera's shutter for about 20 seconds.

We all danced around and made pretty pictures.

This one reminds me of Cinderella's coach at Disneyland, like the Electrical Parade.

We had a good time trying to think of stuff to draw.

I'm not sure what this was supposed to be, but now we think it's a little spermy guy.

These were actually from last year because this year the show started before we had a chance to do our sparklers. We're going to get some for the 24th though.

Random Ramblings

Yesterday I was playing a little Halo Wars and noticed my xbox avatar had changed. Apparently my hubby did it. "Hon, I have my avatar on my blog. People are gonna see it and I didn't choose that." Really Debbie? Sheesh like all of 2 people really even know it's there, and even they probably don't care that it's changed. I dont know why I even mentioned it. But just because, I had to get on and change it. I decided to go with something patriotic (the new one is over on my left sidebar).

My son is still learning to say a lot of things so last week when we were driving around my daughter surprised me when she announced that my little man could say a big new word. Now we have him say it ALL the time.

I got Mail (and it was Red, White and Blue)

I played along in Mamarazzi's Swap and I gotta tell ya, it was so much fun. She was so on top of it all and really made sure every thing worked out well.

I enjoyed getting to meet a new blog friend. The day I got my assignment I went to scour my partner, Emma's page from A Glimpse Into Our Crazy Lives.

Isn't this package super cute? Here's what she sent me:

*Barrel of Monkeys (my kids were already ripping this open)
*Flip flops (totally needed a new pair)
*Strident gum (chewing some right now)
*Uno (funny enough my kids tore mine up a few months ago and I've been meaning to replace it)
*Irresistible Apple Body Cream (ooo that sounds awesome!)
*James Pattersons book "Sundays at Tiffany's" ( I love love getting more books to read)
*Sound Sleep instant aromatherapy w/ lavender and chamomile (I totally need this since for the last 2 weeks I haven't gone to bed before 1am)
*Star snaps (can't wait to use these)
*Stampin Up's 'Lots of Thoughts' rubber stampers (I'm totally gonna use these this week)
*Sparkling Peach Body Lotion (already used it twice).

Emma you rock my socks. Thanks for being such a fun package! I hope you like mine.
