Question #4 In my little blog world

Asked by Kristina P (who is hilarious in real life and on her blog! --and has a little crush on Joel McHale)

Question #4
What is your favorite thing about blogging?
-----
Since this is my game I'm making an executive decision that I can give two answers.

a)I love love love it when people comment on my blog. Validation of something I've done? Oh, yes I get that ALL the time as a mother ("eww I dont want to eat that!") I feel like people like me, or at least that they're interested enough in what I am saying or who I am to say hello. (Which, lets be frank. I love to get virtual 'pats on the back'.)

When I first started blogging I'd lurk all the time and I remembering having the thought, "I can't comment on so&so's blog because they wouldn't want me intruding." Haha. But now I figure, if it's out there in cyber land people want to be noticed and loved. So now I try comment everywhere and love when others do the same.

b)Making new friends & and getting back in touch with old ones I haven't seen in a while. There's also an added bonus. People usually talk about things on their blogs that generally don't come up in a typical conversation. You don't get a lot of this stuff in the few minutes you get to visit on the phone or sitting in the PTA meeting. You get to find that kind of stuff out from people who blog. Plus I think because there is a lot of back and forth, great posts, supporting comments, etc you start to build friendships that are very dear.

Since starting this blog (as opposed to my family blog where mainly only my already close friends and family post) I've been able to expand my circle of friends and build the ones I already had. Like Victorias stories of the countless missionaries that have stayed at her house (even when she already had a house full of 7 kids), or Grammee's stories of moving to a new state and getting to be nearer to dear grandchildren, or Rochelle's adventures dealing with her miracle baby girl and busy boys, or Jenni's fantastic success with her weight loss. For me, I need the friends. The connection to people who I can/want to relate to. The attention. The love and support. And this blogging is a great way to get a daily dose of that.

I profess a rather disturbing association between comments and my daily mood.

I'm glad I'm not alone in my addiction. :)

I always say my blogging is for posterity and for therapy. Hopefully, someday my blog will be therapy for my posterity. :)

Dear Comment Whore,

I'm going to go right on ahead and validate you because I really do agree. Who doesn't love comments? It really is true that blogging can make you feel good about yourself. And yes, blogging has made me totally feel closer to people! I LOVE it!

Ooo, and I can actually relate to Carolyn's comment. Sad.

It really is such an interesting thing to consider the frienships I've made with people through blogging. People I was friends with before we met in real life---but was so excited to meet for real at times:)

If I didn't have blogging (both reading others and posting my own) I'd go crazy.

I love having a way to keep up with all my family and friends that I left behind when I moved to idaho.

I also love getting comments, and miss getting them since I went private. It almost makes me want to go public again.......almost.

I never expected the social aspect of blogging, but that's what I live for now.

I was thinking about this yesterday. I am having a cookie exchange tomorrow, for my closest friends, and two of them are women I met through blogging.

And hey, who doesn't love comments? :)

I agree with both these reasons for blogging. I love comments too & it's the worst when you get none, eh? Plus, I religiously comment on other peoples blogs for these 2 reasons too.

Love your blog and I will happily feed your addiction. :) You always have such fun things to say and I love learning even more about you. You're right that you find out things that otherwise wouldn't come up in conversations, I hadn't thought of that. See, educational as well. :)

I've found this same thing through blogging. Some of my dearest friends I've met through this strange, virtual world. We go out to movies together and dinner and it's quite literally jumped off the screen and into life. I never would have been brave enough to love those women if I hadn't gotten to know them as I have.

I just recently re-discovered your blog, and I love it!!! Maybe you answered this already, but how did you come up with Cranberry Fries for your title?? Are those two things that you really enjoy? Plus, I agree that you get to see what's going on in others lives that normally you might not hear about in a 5 minute passing conversation... I actually feel really sad that I moved away before I was able to learn so much about you!!!

I love making friends through blogging. It's so great, isn't it?

I love when people comment too! Who wouldn't? I think that it's sad when you go on a blog, and no one ever comments...it makes me want to leave more groupie love!

You are validated! I love your blog.

I agree with both of your reasons. I love your blog. I think you have a lot of fun posts. I love how interactive you are with your readers too. I always try to emulate you, but I'm not sure if it works. :)

I'm so glad that we've strengthened our friendship more through our blogs! You're so awesome and I'm glad to call you one of my bestest friends. :)

I second that. It is through comments that you get to know people. And guess what... bloggy friends are real friends. Sometimes bloggy friends keep better (or at least more regular) tabs on me than my local friends.

Just out of curiosity... how did the cough syrup relate to this post? Don't get me wrong... I LIKE it... :)

At least for this month, I am in total agreement with Kristina. What with Christmas and taking a trip to California, I have no time for blogging. The only reason that I am doing it is because I miss my friends! I can't live this long without them. I dedicating January as official obsessive blog month!

Comments are just as fun to open and read as any present.

A few days ago I got my new camera in the mail. When I signed for it I was thinking it was something else I had ordered, because I wasn't expecting the camera until the next day. I picked it up and kissed it. I was beyond thrilled. That is how I feel about comments.
