Tell Me: Hired Out

If you could hire an assistant what would you hire? (maid, cook, chauffeur, etc)

Yesterday I asked it of my facebook friends and of the more than 30 responses here are some results:

Maid=16
Cook=11
Personal Trainer =2
Chauffeur=2
Nanny=1
Wife=1
Hair/Makeup=1

I enjoyed hearing the responses because some of them were super darn funny and others, well they made a lot of sense.

I'm pretty sure I'd pick a cook. I do so much better when I dont have to think about that area. Three times a day for five (who dont always eat the same thing or at the same time) sometimes gets a bit crazy. Plus if you've been following this blog for a while you may know that I'm not the biggest fan of vegetables. I have the cookbook "Deceptively Delicious" but no matter how hard I try I can't bring myself to eat those meals yet. I'M the one that needs to be deceived here, and how can that happen when I know what's happening in the kitchen, haha!

What do you think? If you hired someone what would you have them doing? Feel free to throw your own idea in there. Gardner? Launderer? (And no you can't have them take over all your responsibility, haha.)

I'm one of those people that already answered you on Facebook, but I wanted to comment on your blog too. ;)

If I could hire anyone for anything, I'd hire a cook. I don't really enjoy cooking unless I'm in the mood, which is hardly ever. And, I have a tough time creating balances meals as well as watching calories and serving sizes at the same time. I'd love a cook that did all that for me.

Now, with that being said, I'd also like a personal trainer, which I have but haven't been going to because of school, because I just don't know what to do when it comes to exercise. I never paid attention to that stuff in my PE classes. ;)

I would like someone who had the money to remodel my house, and the time and energy, to come in and finish it all for us! That would be so cool!
But if I couldn't have that, then maybe someone to just do all the laundry. Get out the stains, clean everything, fold it, and put it all away. I hate folding laundry! In fact, I am commenting so I can avoid folding the big basket at my feet. :)

I'd love a personal trainer! Or someone to floss my teeth for me. I hate flossing!

I would definitely choose a cook. Hands down.

Oh man, I was the only one who wanted someone to come do my hair and makeup. I must be vain. Either that or completely inept at doing it myself.

Though, like I said on facebook, the logical side of me says MAID. I'd really love having someone do the vacuuming and scrubbing stuff down. And dusting. I don't think I've ever dusted in my life. HA!

I say cook. Sometimes I look at the crap my kids eat, and I feel a little guilty. Never guilty enough to actually learn to cook, but just guilty enough to make me worried.

Cook! Anyone need a part time job? Wanna cook for two boys?

I think I'd just hired someone to organize everything. Someone to make the grocery list, someone to tell me which bathroom needs to be cleaned first, someone to help decide which kid to help with homework - which is the most important assignment to work on first - etc.

An Organizer - that's what I need.

Totally a cook, for many of the same reasons you already stated. I just don't enjoy it. It's never a gratifying experience from my children. And I just don't have time to think about what to make.

Can't I have an all-in-one? Someone who will cook and clean and do any other jobs I need done? I think I can handle Jackson if someone does everything else. :)

Launderer or Cook. Those would be my ideal. Actually, I think I'd just like an organizer. The rest, I don't mind so much.

Ooh! A Launderer would be fabulous! I really enjoy cooking so that's not a problem. But I hate laundry with an unholy passion. If someone could get that out of the way then life would be so much happier!

I said chauffeur. Even though I hate doing such mundane tasks such as cooking, dusting, and scrubbing the toilet, I feel like I've accomplished something when I do. It is part of my role as a homemaker (it's not my job mind you, but it's what I signed up to do). I serve me family because I love them.

Driving is just ridiculous in L.A. and it's serving no one for me to be on the road!

Maid, no question. If I could live never having to clean my house again, I would be the happiest woman alive!

As I've said before, I'm allergic to housework. I sweat, get tired, and am very grumpy after I do it. If someone came in and cleaned my house for me, I'd have much more time to cook and do the laundry, which I really don't mind doing. I also wouldn't live in fear that someone was going to stop over unannounced!

I would say a cook...for obvious reasons. LOL.

Definitely I would hire a maid, since I find that repetitive stuff like dish washing and vacuuming Boring :)
The maid would free up more time for me to spend with my dh, my cats, gardening and writing my next book.

I realize it's not very original, but definitely the housekeeper. I love to cook, I don't care about laundry, and I don't really care about gardening. Man, what DO I care about? :)
