Question 12: To get paid or not

Asked by Christie (who is an amazing mom, very thoughtful of her friends, and who is louder than me -lets just say my mom used to call me 'lungs'.)

I would like to know: Now that you are an official college grad, do you plan to use your degree in the work force or keep doing the harder job of being a stay at home mom?

---
You know it's funny because when this question was originally asked I had my answer all ready, I would have hands down said I'm still choosing to stay at home. I figured it'd be several years until I needed/chose to work.

Just over the Christmas holiday my hubby got a job offer (that we thought was the answer to lots of prayers). We further researched it, talked about it, prayed about it, and decided that even though thats what we thought we wanted all along it wasn't going to cut the mustard.

We made a hard family decision. He's decided to go back to school and finish his last year to get his Bachelors in Animation while I go back to work for a bit to help out the family. So for now, it's back into the workforce for me. (By the way, anyone out there know anyone hiring? I can type super fast!) I'm actually still pretty excited at this point. It's been a couple of weeks I've been looking and even though trying to muddle through the legit placed ads has been no fun, I'm still hopeful and postive.

**Want to play along? Do you have any questions for me? Go ahead and ask me here!

I'm glad that you have a plan for your family. I think it will work out. I know it will be tough, but I think it will be good for you in the long run if that makes sense. (I hope that doesn't come across as anything but sincere well wishes.) I've been keeping an eye out for you. I hope you find something soon that will work for your family.

I have been keeping an eye out for you. My husband is hiring, but something tells me you're not looking for that kind of job. (excavation, outside, in the utah winter...) I'll keep looking.

One place to check is the church's website under home and family to employment, then to employment resources. They have a job board there for employers looking for employees. It is not the church looking for employees. I have actually found a couple of jobs I applied for there. Or check on MATC's website. Sometimes they are hiring for non-specific jobs. Good luck!

I have a friend who works at Kid to Kid. She's pregnant and is due soon. I can find out when & see if they need someone to take her place. If you are interested.

Hope you are able to find an awesome job that you will thoroughly enjoy, Debbie. And I'm wishing your talented husband all the best in completing his Bachelors in Animation. (He'll breeze through it with flying colors for sure!) Sometimes those types of family/career decisions are really tough, but I know everything will work out perfectly for you and your lovely family. :)

It will be GREAT. =) I work, and although sometimes I don't want to go...I would say that I'm happy most of the time.

*sidenote...pretty sure that Christie lives up the street from me, and use to be in our ward before they split our neighborhood.
