Random Ramblings-Groovin'

I've missed you guys. Really. A lot. I've been thinking about you so much the last few weeks. Thinking of my sweet friends whom I just appreciate so much.

I was riding a huge wave of joy and happiness and had a (seriously) small wave knock me off my cool ride (it's all metaphorical people. I was just surprised how much this one event could effect me so). But it knocked me off none the less and I had to scramble to find my place again. Like Stella, I was looking for a way to get my groove back, it just took a little longer than I had anticipated. But I think I'm there now.

So today, I figured I'd begin nice and easy with a Random Ramblings.

*****

~I noticed I missed out on two huge milestones recently for my dear sweet Cranberry Fries blog. Next week we'll for sure be celebrating. And when I say we, I really mean we. As in, cool stuff. For. You.

~My mom is a presenter at a Womens Conference today and in the little booklet they have a snippet of a bio for each presenter. I always knew my mom was amazing but can I just tell you all how proud I was of that 26 words that were written about her?

"Wife, mother, grandmother; BYU graduate; counselor in ward Relief Society presidency; three-time cancer survivor; former school teacher, Girl Scout leader, PTA president, and small business owner"

Summer is approaching. I'm not talking weather, since quite frankly we all know that spring around these parts that I live really amounts to rain, snow, hail, high temps, and tornado like winds all within the same day. So yes, the weather version of summer will probably not be approaching for some time. I'm talking summer as in the no-school variety.

I've been trying to come up with ideas and activities to keep my fun-loving kids, and of course myself, entertained and amused. I have a handful of ideas. I probably need more. My real hope is that I can get my act together and set up a plan so that I feel some sort of committement to partake in these ideas I'm coming up with instead of thinking, "ah lets just stay home and play outside today." (Which I suppose is ok too, but all school year I think, "When school is out we'll go do ___(fill in the blank w/ great idea)" so now is the time to actually start thinking about ____(yah fill it in again).

I'm considering an idea I heard from a friend. Something like Monday-playdate, Tuesday-field trip, Wednesday-stay home, Thursday-grandma's house/friends house ?? , Friday-? . Obviously you see my errors. I just dont know what to do with my half-thought out plan.

Life is good.

Sounds like things are great now. Glad the wave came and went. :))

Women'd Conference, that sounds like fun! U was just up in Provo for the LDStorymaker's conference. Did you go? And along those lines, I understand you are an avid reader but are you an avid writer as well? I am really curious all of the sudden of what types of stuff you would write.

Your blog posts come out really eloquently. YOU could write some really good fiction I think.
Anyway, Can't wait to meet ya at Casual Blogger Conference in May. YIPPEE!!!

So sorry about the metaphorical knock-off but good to see you are bouncing back. Wow--your mom is a three time cancer survivor?!!? That is amazing!

Horrid. I used U WAS....EEK. I think I meant Were you at the LDStorymaker's conference. I was.

Sorry about that. Ew.
I should have edited my comment BEFORE I hit publish.

And KUDOS to your mom for surviving cancer 3 times? Wow.
That is simply awesome.
Is she a writer as well?
(Yes, I kinda have a thing for writers.) :)))Writers are just cool, that's all.

Yay! I'm glad you're back. I've missed you. :)

Those 26 words about your mom are amazing! You should be proud. I'm proud and she's not even my mom.

Glad to hear that you've got your groove back ("beware the groove... groooove" -- if you don't know that one, ask Kayla). I have some forebodings about the "school's out for summer" thing too. I think a schedule would be a good idea for us as well... but like you, I think I'll have a hard time getting enough energy to stick to it. I guess I need to dig out my SuperMom cape and dust it off. Deep breath -- OK we can do this!

Good to see you back:)
That bio is great and I love that before all her accomplishments she put "wife, mother, grandmother." Awesome.

I wondered where you had gotten off too. That is amazing about your mom.

I'm the same way as you. I want so badly to take full advantage of summer vacation (ours, however, doesn't start until July 2. Grrrrr.) but I can never quite get it all together. Maybe this year will be different.

Maybe.

I missed keeping up with you here on Cranberry Fries. Love your mom's bio. What an amazing woman! :)

My kids are both signing up for Parks & Rec classes over the summer (swimming, ballet, & art). And I am actually beginning to wonder if we'll have too much scheduled & will miss out on that 'lazy days of summertime' feeling. Hopefully we can find a happy balance.

You took a really long break. Can I do that? I start feeling guilty because people start hounding me. Give me permission, please...

i hope you are doing okay. love you.

we like to plan one major outing a week during the summer and the other days we just chill or go to the pool at the rec. center.

i agree with violet. one of the best parts of summer is not having to be somewhere all the time.

So glad you are back!

And, hello, I just saw you & heard of NO KNOCKING OFF! I'm here for you sister.

I have a ton of fun stuff to do in the summer- lots of fairs and festivals. We'll have all sorts of goodness!

Last summer I did a weekly sort of schedule like that and loved it! We planned weekly field trips and invited people over one day a week, and all sorts of things. I say give it a try!

I saw someone else doing "ABC" activities on the weekend. Maybe alphabetical activities is a better description. So for A they went to an Aquarium, made and decorated paper airplanes, and then had some food that started with A. I liked this idea because it seems that we get stuck in a routine and no matter what we do it is still boring. This helps to think outside my own comfort zone.

Hey Debbie! I loved this post. I was wondering if your mom knows anyone going through cancer at this time here in Utah. I am working on a project... You can check out my photography blog for more details. If you wouldn't mind also letting people others know about the project, I would really appreciate that too! :)
You are awesome, and I love your blog.

so the stella getting her groove back comment made me giggle just a little... I've been home sick all day and every time I flip through the listings on my DVR, that movie comes up and I always think of the lady behind the story who married a younger guy only to find out that he's gay, so I've been laughing at it all day long... so reading that on here was funny!

Anyway, glad you're back in blogging mode :) hope you have a great weekend! It's almost here!!

Was your mom's class about marriage? Because I think I went to that one. She was fantastic.
