Uhm. I found some fireworks. What am I supposed to do with them? I know if I pack them away I'll forget about them or won't be able to find them come next year, but I hate throwing things away of value. So there they sit.

My first grader got a few new things this year: Lunch box, water bottle, back pack, umbrella, pencil case, school supplies, etc. Of course while we were out shopping my 3 1/2 year thought she needed the same things. I gotta admit I totally caved.
She doesn't need that stuff. Sure, some of it she can play with, but what was I doing. I know this is only the start of what will be years to come of, 'but she got one!'. How do you deal with the different stages and still not feel like you're giving some of your kids more? Maybe it'll get easier when they're older? It's ok you can laugh. I dont really believe that either.

My kids have started watching The Wiggles. I gotta tell ya, I thought I wasn't gonna like them, but darn if they're not entertaining! I dont know why but before I watched them I thought they were British. Nope. Australian. Now I can totally hear it.

Tomorrow's Saturday. Hoping to try a few things ya'll suggested the other day.

Do you live in Utah? You gotta check this place out! Froyo is having a Grand Opening on Sept 12 from 12-2pm. I hear they have some fun door prizes and free yogurt! The new place is at 598 W. Main St. American Fork, UT. If you're not sure you wanna make the drive over, there are tons of yummy places for lunch, shopping, and movies you could hit up afterward! (Oh and I just found out they have Sorbet and blender drinks and Free Wifi!)

Yumm..did you say Free Yogurt? Where? I'm there!
Happy Saturday!
P.S. I totally did the same thing when I bought my oldest school supplies..I bought my little guy a few things too!
Thanks for the shout out, Debbie! :) You're awesome!
I can only imagine what it's like dealing with your kids going through the different stages. I would've caved too. I'm not sure how to handle that. Good luck with it!
I don't really even know what the Wiggles are!
Van loves the Wiggles...even now. She has tons of Wiggles apparell, and I wish that they would come to Utah in concert again.
You should try the Yogurt Stop...I have been craving it every day!
too bad we're not in utah anymore, I want some free yogurt!
I've never heard of the Wiggles either. I guess I'll have to check it out now!
I've never had FroYo either- but I guess I'll check that out too!
Is anyones birthday coming up? It could be a fun excuse for setting them off. I always did on my birthday because it was 4 days before the 4th
We love the Wiggles! I'm glad you are getting to know them.
Isn't it amazing how much better you can color with a brand new box of crayons :-)
xo
one year we found bottle rockets and wrote down little wishes and then tied them to the bottle rockets and tried to shoot them to the moon.
or you could just blow something up.
We had the same problem with buying school supplies this year.
6th grader had a longer school supply list than 4th grader.
4th grader: "Why does she get a big binder and I don't? Why does she get all those folders and I don't? Why does she get a calculator and I don't? Why does she get a planner and I don't?"
I caved and bought 4th grader a planner.
Go ahead and set off your fireworks. The kids in our neighborhood are still doing that.
You could save your fireworks until New Year's. It's legal to do them then. Put them in your kitchen cupboard or on top of your fridge so you'll see them often, then in about 4 months you can light them.
Thanks for letting my kids color with your new crayons! Sorry Cam bit the end off of one. :) That's all he really knows how to do with crayons.
We tried froyo one time. I thought it was okay, but I'm not a huge fan of frozen yogurt. I'll take the fat in the ice cream.
I also get the Fruit Salad song the Wiggles sing in my head. No good.
When Alisha buys things for one of the girls and the others say you bought her one, she says "and I will buy you one too when you are 6 or 8 or whatever it is. Somewhere you have to draw the line because yes, you will deal with this the rest of their growing up time with you. It gives them something to look forward to when they reach the "age".
I'll second the keep the fireworks for New Year's idea. Just write down where you stored them on the Dec. 31st square in your calendar so you remember!
I always have the problem with the whole, "Why does he/she get that and I don't?!" When I'm in a good mood I'll usually get the younger kid(s) one item so they feel special. Sometimes I can avoid it by shopping without the kids, other times (aka bad mood) I just tell them to get over it, their time will come!
And I'm super excited about the sorbet at froyo! I can't wait!
I live in Utah, but I wish I lived closer! Froyo - yum.
I was cleaning out my grown boys' closet one day and found about a bushel of illegal fireworks (no fireworks are legal in So-Cal). Apparently their scout leaders stopped off on the way to Utah every summer... grrr...
Oh, and no froyo here... but I get a free burrito from Baja Fresh tomorrow. It is free burrito day. The catch is it is between 2:00 and 4:00 p.m. Cagey, aren't they? Past lunch hour. What THEY don't know is, I am not going to get out of bed until 10:00, and I will eat breakfast at 11:00. I will be perfectly ready for lunch at 3:00. Take THAT, Baja Fresh!
hahaha, the Wiggles, back when we had cable (were stuck with whatevers on free TV but oh well)... Roxie would probably love them! I cave and buy school supplies for the little ones too, why not when you can get crayons for what? 10 cents or something like that... I regret it later when the new crayon gets bitten up and drawn on the wall ;D Froyo eh? Never tried them, some day I suppost. ;D
