Here ya go, more stuff in my brain

My oldest daughter is turning 8. Sort of a big milestone for us. I'm really excited but also totally weirded out watching my kids grow up. Does anyone know where I can find an affordable baptism dress? I went out with her last week and we found an ADORABLE one for about $60. I'm not sure if I should expect that or if I can do better. We're off to look again later this week. What else do I need to do? Any ideas?

I have quite the plethora of pens on my bathroom counter. This morning I realized it's because my hair is to the point where I need to get it done again. I try to avoid the pony tail thing but by the end of the day it generally ends up in a twist with a pen holding it up and I take it out when I go in to brush my teeth to go to bed. I think this is a desperate cry from my hair for me to go book an appointment to get some color and shape again.

Have you ever seen that Disney channel movie "Hatching Pete" my kids found it on our netflix and half way through it I started recognizing the hallways in the school and even saw a Utah license plate. Then finally I realized it was filmed at my old high school, Hillcrest. I know they've actually filmed a few movies there but I dont know the names of any others.

Last night I finally got to give my talk on strengthening and improving relationships. I have been working on it for a few weeks and while I was really excited to get to do it I am glad I no longer have to worry about how good it'll be anymore. It's funny how bittersweet those things can be.

Happy Friday everyone!

I could never get my hair to stay up in pens---too slippery:)

I love recognizing Utah stuff in movies. My old high school was in the Armor of God video:)

Have you looked at D.I? I found my temple dress there, on a fluke after I was looking for bedroom furniture, before I got married. It was brand new and cost me $6!

If you have an idea of what you'd like the baptism dress to look like, I'd be willing to help you make one - much cheaper.

We paid about $50 for my daughters, but we just got it at JC Penneys. There aren't a lot of those fun church dress stores up here in Washington, so I guess I'm not much help! haha

I've been growing my hair out so its so ugly and not at all in a good place. I want to cut it constantly, its so annoying.

I haven't seen Hatching Pete, will look it up on Netflix now.

Good for you on your talk!! I bet it was fantastic!

Barb some days are certainly better than others on that hair/pen stuff. :)

Kristina thats a good idea! Maybe I'll have to go check up near my moms though because the one by me is SERIOUSLY picked over. Like everyday there are people lining up at the door...

Variety the one I found looked like it was 'easy' to make but coming from someone with little skills I dont know how true that is. Maybe I can find a picture or go back and take a picture of it with my phone.

Melinda I want to cut my hair all the time too! I'm hoping if I go color it I'll like it for a while again.

Hey, if you want help with a dress, just ask. :) I have heard that sometimes you can find a deal at JC Penny's. Sometimes you can find coupons to white elegance, but I don't know how much they charge. As to DI's, my parents live by the one in Centerville, Ut. It usually has good stuff for pretty cheap.
Good luck!

If you are buying $50 is about average. Since Easter is coming you may be able to find some at Burlington or Target. I have purchased my 3 girls dresses from Dressed in White in Orem. I never pay that much for a dress but we have always felt that this is one of their "princess moments".

Making a dress is pretty easy if you have the time. However, after the cost of satin, netting etc, you can get up to $40 -$50 before you even start sewing. I have made several for nieces and it was about sixes with buying after all was said and done.

We finally found DD#2's baptism dress at Jolene's, but I noticed you've already been there recently. Everywhere else we looked the dresses were near or over $100, so I was thrilled with the price I paid at Jolene's.

I made DD#1's dress because she wanted to look like a princess. It was long, with flowing sleeves and she was absolutely beautiful. DD#2's dress was simple but overlaid with a layer of lace and she looked just as much like a princess. AND I DIDN'T HAVE TO SEW IT. When it was all said & done, the prices I paid were probably similar.

I loved not having sew second dress, though. Totally worth the extra in my opinion. Especially because we were blessing baby DD#3 at the same time. It was totally crazy!

Sorry, I'm not to the baptism age with my kids yet, so I have no idea where to get a dress.

The disney channel did another movie at Hillcrest probably 5 or 6 years ago, I think it was called Take It To The Mat (It was a wrestling movie about a blind wrestler) my bil was the body double for the main character and did all the wrestling scenes since he went to Hillcrest at the time and won state champ.
